Haiti Earthquake Appeal

Year 4s are currently learning about ‘Christianity in Action’ in RE. They have learned about people who believe they are called to help others less fortunate than themselves. When they heard about the Haiti Earthquake, they decided that they too could help others in need. After a ‘brainstorming’ session to collect ideas they came up with two plans to raise money. The first was a Cake Sale and the second was a ‘trip’ to the Cinema.

On January 22nd, hundreds of cakes appeared in school – all delicious and all beautiful to look at. Everyone in the school community had supported the year 4 children by baking cakes – children, parents, staff, grannies, granddads and others. The Cake Sale at 3:30 was a fantastic success!

At 4:30 the children returned for a screening of “Bee Movie” on the new projector in the School Hall.  They came equipped with cushions for a comfortable session, ate popcorn and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  A donation to the Haiti Appeal guaranteed them entry to the film.

A grand total of £807.29 was raised in total and sent off quickly.  Well done Year 4 children and thank you to the rest of the school for their support!
