Welcome to the Year 1 Page - Summer Term 2010

As the warmer weather approaches, we are exploring a topic on ‘Holidays’. With children interested in learning about new places and having, no doubt, been to many different locations either within this country or abroad for their holidays, there will be lots of discussion around everyone’s fun and exciting memories. A trip is planned to the seaside resort of Hunstanton, including the Sea life Centre, where we will travel by coach and walk around the location to learn new things and consolidate what we have been learning in the classroom. It is important to recognise that people go on holiday for different reasons and often take part in various activities of interest to them and their family. From a historical point of view, the children will gain an understanding of the kind of holidays people experienced in the past. From an artistic perspective, we will look at the way we can use drawings and pictures to record our holidays, and will have the opportunity of designing some souvenirs.
